Umera Ahmad born on December 10, 1976. She is a Pakistani author and screenwriter. She is known for authoring books like Pir-e-Kamil (the first part of Abe Hayat)

She began her writing career in 1998 at the age of 22 with her initial stories published in monthly Urdu digests. She has written many books. Her most popular books are Pir-e-Kamil and Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan. She is much inspired by the life of civil service and her many writings have civil servants as protagonists.

Pir-e-Kamil (or Peer-e-Kamil), (Urdu: پیر کامل صلی اللہ علیہ و آلہ و سلم‎) meaning The Perfect Mentor, is a fiction novel authored by Pakistani writer Umera Ahmad. It was first published in Urdu in 2004 and later in English in 2011. The book deals with the turning points in intervening lives of two people: a runaway girl named Imama Hashim; and a boy named Salar Sikander having an IQ level above 150. The story spans a time period of around ten years.

The story's protagonist, Imama Hashim, belongs to an influential Ahmadiyya family living in Islamabad. She decides to convert to Sunni Islam after being influenced by her friends. She attends her senior shabiha's lectures in secrecy from her family and her roommates, Javeria and Rabia. While studying in a medical school in Lahore, she falls in love for her friend Zainab's elder brother doctor Jalal Ansar. But Imama's family tries to coerce her to marry her first cousin Asjad, which is unacceptable to her as she can not marry a non-Muslim. In the result, her parents respond by locking her up in the house and taking away her cell phone.

Raja Gidh (Urdu: راجه گدھ‎) by Bano Qudsia is an Urdu novel. Gidh is the Urdu word for a vulture and Raja is a Hindi synonym for king. The name anticipates the kingdom of vultures. In fact, parallel to the main plot of the novel, an allegorical story of such a kingdom is narrated. The metaphor of the vulture as an animal feeding mostly on the carcasses of dead animals is employed to portray the trespassing of ethical limits imposed by the society or by the religion.

There is some controversy as to whether this book be classified as a novel.It is mainly a collection of thoughts of an old Pakistani man Humayun Farid who is visiting his emigrant daughter Arjmand in USA. Most of the thoughts occur to him as he is sitting in the balcony of her daughter’s home. The narrative may well be thought to be employing the stream of consciousness technique.

She is best known for her novel Raja Gidh and has written for television and stage in both the Urdu and Punjabi languages. Her play Aadhi Baat has been called "a classic".

She wrote her first tale story (afsaana) when she was 11 years old... Then her mother didn't let her to kitchen. But soon after marriage her husband, Ashfaq Ahmad, asked her to go back to kitchen. She praised her husband for his hospitality. They didn't let their guests without meal.
